When a friend reaches out and asks for prayer, just pray. This is NOT the time to inform them that you don't believe in God or that you're a different religion than they are. Just pray.
Pray to the God or saint that you believe in. Don't believe in any higher power? Pray anyway. Let's say your friend is Bob, start your prayer with, "Dear Bob's God...". Your friend needs you. Be there for them. That positive energy can work miracles. It really can.
