Gone Are the Days of a Private Shower...

Around here, I have to grab a shower whenever I can sneak away from the chaos for a few minutes. This could be at 4 a.m. or later in the evenings, after 9 p.m. Last night was a case of the latter. Thinking I had everyone settled down, I hurried off to the master bath for a relaxing and private shower.

I succeeded! Almost. Just as I turned off the water and was about to open the curtain, there was a peck at the door. It was Selly...

"Mom, Ross says she needs to go potty."

"Um, I'm butt naked in here. Can she wait for two minutes?"

"I don't think so."

There is another bathroom but Ross refuses to do her business in there.

"OK. I.ll just keep the shower curtain pulled and you can bring her in."

I heard Selly call Ross in from the living room and soon she was on the potty, chatting away about this and that. She was in no hurry at all. I stood there, drenched and silent, getting colder with each passing minute. I didn't want Ross to know I was there. If she heard me and ran over to pull back the curtain, she might be blinded or scarred mentally for life by my nakedness. After about 10 minutes, I was losing patience.

"Ross, you need to hurry up, so I can get out of here!", I said gently but with urgency.

Ross said to Selly, "Oh No! MomMom is in the toilet! I just pooped on MomMom!"

The toilet is quite close to the shower. Still, it never occurred to me that she would actually think I was in the potty! But, thinking this might be my way out, I said, in my best garbled, underwaterish, voice, "Ross, please hurry and finish so I can get out of here."

Sadly, it had the opposite effect. When Selly urged her to get off the potty and flush, so that I could get out, Ross cried, "We can't flush! She'll die if we do!" Hearing the fear in her voice and realizing that she was scared to the point of tears, I popped my head from behind the curtain, where she could see my reflection in the mirror, "Ross, I'm OK. I was just playing a silly trick on you!"

Bless her heart, she was ecstatic to see me. Relief washed over her little face. "MomMom, please never hide in the potty again. You scared me!" I'm guessing that she thought I somehow went through the pipe and into the shower...
