A while back, we canceled our Direct TV and  subscribed to NetFlix, which we stream through our Wii. If you aren't familiar with the process, in order to stream through the Wii, you must use a special CD that NetFlix sends to you. Yesterday evening, I kept getting an error, whenever I tried to start the program. That's when Ross proudly announced that she had stuck paper into the Wii.

A similar crisis happened a while back, when Tallen stuck a Q-tip into the console, so I was already familiar with removing the front cover etc... So, I unplugged the whole works and took it into the kitchen for better lighting. I removed the front and supported it with the coffee container. It had a wire that connected the two pieces and I didn't want to chance breaking it.

Next, I put on one of those snazzy LED headlamps. I bought these a few months for nighttime crafting, rofl. They have actually came in handy for so many things, including walking the dogs at night. Ross even uses one to read in bed. Who cares if they make me look like an OB-Gyn? Anywho, I had Cina press the disk slot open with a butter knife and hold it there, then had a look. Sure enough, there was paper in there. We tried to shake it out. It didn't budge. We tried to grab it with extra long tweezers. They were to think to reach inside. I was ready to scream, as the rest of the console it held together by some funky looking screws that I have no driver for.

Then I remembered the package of Elmer's Glue Spots that I had received from BzzAgent. I knew they were very strong, as I actually used one to secure a floor tile and it hasn't budged. So I tore off a tiny piece of the dot and twirled it around the end of a straightened paperclip. I made sure that it was stuck securely to the clip and to itself, as the last thing I needed was to lose this in there as well. I had Cina put on the headlamp and go in for the kill, as my eyes were throbbing by this time. Within seconds, she had the paper out. You should have seen us dancing around, high-fiving and bumping hips, like crazy people. We felt like geniuses. I hooked everything back up and it works great now.

BTW. I don't recommend that you try this yourself. You should never stick a paperclip into anything electrical, etc... etc... etc... I was just at my wits end and desperate. Kinda like the time I fixed a cassette player with a condom. But that's another story...

HUGS!

  2. We don't have a Wii, so bought a Roku to stream Netflix. What a great thing it is! We are saving so much money on DVD rentals!

    Glad you got it fixed!
