Top Ten Thursday - Expressions That I Adore

Welcome to Top Ten Thursday! I created this meme to add a little bit of variety to Frump Day ( no longer Hump Day, not yet Friday...) If you would like to participate, just create your own Top Ten post about anything your heart desires and add the link below. Everyone is welcome to join in. This should get really interesting...

Top Ten  Expressions That I Adore

1. "Well butter my butt and call me a biscuit!" I use this one a lot. It's just so cute and funny.

2."I swunnee!" A common expression, in this neck of the woods. Appropriate for almost any occasion, whether shouted in excitement or mumbled is sad disgust.

3. "Sweating like a whore in church." I could just kiss whoever was the first to use this expression. I never hear it without imagining a former neighbor of mine, sitting in church. LOL

4."A lick and a promise." This sounds dirty. I've heard it used my whole life, by even the most respectable people. So I'm guessing it originally meant something not dirty.

5. "He's campaigning for an ass whooping and is just about to get elected." Love, love, love, this one!

6."Don't let your bulldog mouth get your Chihuahua ass in trouble."

7. "Ugly as a mud fence." I've never seen a mud fence, but I'll bet they are ugly, sure enough.

8."Sparrow's Fart :30" I use this all the time, to describe being woke at some insanely early hour.

9."Shakin' like a dog shi**ing 'simmon seeds." I heard this all my life and never knew just what the heck a " 'simmon" seed was. I finally grew up and discovered that it is actually the country way of saying "persimmon seed". It seems they have a very spiky pit or seed inside. I have never saw a dog in the act of passing these, but I'll bet he would shake profusely and probably yelp a lot too.

10."I'd like to buy her for what she's worth, then sell her for what she thinks she worth." This has been so true, so many times...

  3. Love those! One question... how is swunnee pronounced?

My top ten are pet peeves... I shouldn't blog when I am annoyed, lol! At least I got it off my chest!

  4. Laura, it rhymes with "honey". I'm sure it sounds super-strange to folks who don't use country slang. lol
