When putting curtains on a rod, snagging can be such a pain. Prevent this by cutting a finger from an old glove and slipping it over the rod end first.

Dental Floss is much stronger than regular thread, use it to sew buttons on your child's clothing and adult work clothes.

Keep closet doors closed. There's no need to heat or air condition your closets. Clothes could care less what the temperature is. : )

Consider removing your window screens in the winter. Even fine-mesh screens can block up to 20% of the sunlight that could enter and help to warm your home.

Now, I need suggestions on what to do with a LOT of cabbage. I really don't like kraut, so that isn't an option.

Thanks!

  1. Well, I guess there's always cole slaw, but that isn't a long-term solution as I don't think it freezes well ... sadly, sour kraut is probably your best option if you're looking to do something with the cabbage that will last long-term ...

Love the floss tip - never heard of that before!

Stopping by from SITS to say hello!

  3. Actually there are recipes for freezer Cole Slaw. Just google "freezer cole slaw recipes". Also you can can cole slaw. People on a canning group I belong to swear by canning it, which makes it the vinegar variety, then when they open it to serve it, they add mayo. I've never tried any of these, because I haven't ever had a surplus of cabbage or gotten a real deal on it, but if I did, I'd try it.

You could also make Stuffed Cabbage Rolls.

  4. Thanks for stopping by, S.E.! The floss really does work. Buttond used to be on kid's clothes so loosely that I would be able to pull them off with my fingers, right after getting home from town with them. I fixed those right away with the floss. Thank goodness that places are being more careful now! It was always my horror that one of my little ones would tear one off and choke on it... Yes, I am pretty sure I am OCD lol

  6. Thank you, thank you, thanks you, Lola! I am such a dingbat! I have seen those freezer slaw recipes a zillion times and always passed on them, because the slaw had no mayonaise. Why it never came to mind that I could add the mayo later, I'll never know. LOL You've saved the day. HUGS!
