Monday Musings

Hello, dear readers!

First of all, I need to let everyone know that, after trying to contact the second winner of the You can Make This pattern bundle and having no luck, I have had to choose a new winner by drawing one from the remaining comments. That winner is Vodka Logic. Congratulations!

You Never Want a Drink of Water...

We have been caught in a deep freeze, here in NC. The temps are in the teens and due to stay that way for at least another week. Hubs was gone on a night hunt Saturday evening, when Selly and I realized that our water had frozen. This was odd since, when we were making sure everything was ready for this cold snap, we had double checked the door leading to the crawl space where our pipes are.

We looked around back and saw that something had clawed the door open! We still have no clue what it was. I know it wasn't any of our dogs, as the ones who roam free have nice cozy beds in the garage, Plus, they're just too lazy to go to that kind of trouble.lol I do know that it had to be a fairly large animal, as a small dog or cat couldn't have opened that door. I'm hoping that none of us encounter whatever it was!

Anywho, we were on our own and needed to thaw the pipes. With the wind howling and the air freezing, nobody wanted to crawl under there with a blow dryer and take the time to thaw them. I decided to put a small space heater under there, just long enough to get running water back. But the plug on the end was grounded and the extension cord only had two holes. Then, I remembered the heating pad! We plugged that baby in, zipped it to HIGH, and placed it on the pipe. In less than 10 minutes, we had water again. As long as that creature leaves the door closed, we shouldn't have any more problems.

Ask, And Ye Shall Receive...

Better yet, just believe. Blessing have been raining upon us lately. I firmly believe that keeping a positive attitude, not stressing out, and holding firm to the belief that what we need will be provided, has had some part in this. So many examples of this have occurred in the past few weeks. I'll share a few.

1. I posted last week that Tallen had dumped out all the pairs of disposable contacts that I had saved for hard times. And how he had broken both the earpieces off my glasses. So, I was left with just one pair of worn out lenses, that are scratching my eyes and those pitiful glasses that are almost beyond even taping together. The glasses fall from my face every few minutes because the tape comes loose. LOL

When Tallen did this, I probably should have been upset. I should have sat down and cried. But I wasn't and I didn't. I just didn't feel frantic. Even knowing that I am almost blind with just my bare eyes. Well, just a couple of days ago, I was informed that I am getting a free pair of glasses! You'll know more about this in just a few days. But really, what a blessing!

2. Ross makes it a real chore to keep her dressed. Especially at night, she starts pulling off socks and gowns, wanting to be comfy. Well, with the weather being so cold, I dragged out her footed pajamas, knowing she would have a harder time taking these off and would be sure to stay warm at night. But, I was saddened to find that she has grown too tall for her size 2Ts. I could cut off the feet and get some more wear out of them, but no way would she keep socks on at night. I decided to take some socks, the kind that have the fold over cuff, and serge them to where I had cut off the feet, thus making them long enough.

As I was contemplating this, the phone rang. It was Renni. She had called to tell me that she had just bought Ross the cutest size 3T footed pajamas at Wally World, for only $3.00! She had not known that Ross was in bad need of these but said they were too cute to pass up at that price. Ross is snoozing away, this very minute, in her cozy pajamas.

3.  Everyone knows that I rarely buy clothes for myself.  I just make do. But I had gotten down to having almost nothing fit to wear out of the house. Just before Christmas, I accidentally ended up on the Lee jeans Facebook page. They were having a contest for free jeans. Thinking it was worth a shot, but knowing that thousands would be entering  to win that day, I tooka chance and entered the contest. The next day, I received an email informing me that I was one of the winners in the previous days drawing. I was thrilled.

As I said, these are just a few examples. But, I think these are good examples of how just believing and not stressing the small things , can bring great things to you.

Have a Great Day!

  1. I love that you won the free jeans but I do not love that large creatures are trying to get in!

  2. Very smart to use the heating pad...I don't know if I would have thought of that! And, whatever that animal was, I hope it stays away...far far away!

YAY for free glasses, footy jammies and Give-a-way jeans! God Is So Good, Isn't HE!

  4. Good call on the heating pad. I have to remember that next time we loose water.Last year we lost it twice.

I am firm believer in thinking positive and staying calm over things you can't control. Free jeans, what a score.
